Dr. Jan Figart is the Associate Director and Senior Planner in Maternal and Child Health at the Community Service Council of Greater Tulsa. In her various roles at the Community Service Council, she directs the development of community collaboratives and provides ongoing coalition support, program development, grant writing, program evaluation and analysis of community trends. A graduate of Tulsa’s McLain High School, Jan and her husband Michael are the proud parents of two daughters and two sons and a passel (a dozen) of grandchildren.
Jan’s educational accomplishments include an Associate’s Degree from Tulsa Community College, a Bachelor’s Degree from Langston University, a Master’s Degree from the University of Oklahoma, and a Doctorate Degree from the University of Phoenix in Health Administration. A Registered Nurse since 1974, Jan’s broad education goals have led her to pursue diverse career opportunities as an educator at Rogers State University and the University of Phoenix, an administrator with Northeast Oklahoma Area Health Education Center, the Executive Director of the Margaret Hudson Program and as an analyst and public health advocate with the Community Service Council.
For the past 15 years, Jan has focused her energies on children’s issues in the Tulsa community. She has provided leadership to the Tulsa Healthy Start Initiative, early childhood initiatives and health care for the uninsured. Jan’s community accomplishments and service have been acknowledged by Sigma Theta Tau, Zeta Delta Chapter with a Nursing Leadership Award, Tulsa Community College with a Best of TCC Alumni Award, the University of Phoenix with the Faculty of the Year Award, and the American Red Cross with a Humanitarian Award.
